Overview

NOMAD is a travel app designed to provide users with a seamless and enriched travel inspiration experience. The app helps users discover new destinations, find local attractions, and seamlessly links to popular accommodation platforms such as Airbnb and booking.com. It aims to cater to the needs of aspiring travelers by offering curated content and intuitive navigation.

Travelers often face the challenge of finding comprehensive, reliable information about destinations and suitable accommodations. Existing solutions either focus heavily on bookings or lack inspiring content to help users discover new places. NOMAD aims to bridge this gap by providing rich destination information and easy access to accommodation booking platforms.

Inspire Exploration: Provide users with detailed information and visual content to inspire them to explore new destinations.

Analysing existing travel and accommodation apps helped to identify gaps and opportunities while evaluating the reviews for these platforms helped to understand common complaints and areas for improvement. From these research findings a series of detailed personas were created to represent the primary user groups.

A series of wireframes helped to visual the structure of the app's interface and provide clarity on the user flow, ensuring the navigation is intuitive and logical.

Visual Design

Continuing the theme of minimalism, a simple colour palette comprising of neutral black and grey shades were chosen to create a sophisticated and accessible interface that would allow the curated imagery and destinations to take center stage. Roboto font was chosen to complement the colour palette through its simplicity and elegance.

To reduce Hick's Law and create a clutter-free design, every element was carefully considered. Using plentiful white space allows the user to easily navigate the app, increases readability and brings necessary information and CTA's in to focus.

Intuitive Navigation

The design of the Nomad app centers on an intuitive and user-friendly interface. From the home screen, users can effortlessly search for destinations and explore curated 'Top Picks.' To enhance discoverability, a series of horizontal scrolling buttons above allow users to browse through different continents such as Europe, Asia, and North America.

Immersive Experience

The destination screen provides users with an immersive and comprehensive view of their chosen destination. This screen is designed to inspire and inform, featuring a blend of rich visual content and detailed information.

Dark Mode

A dark mode offers an alternative visual experience that reduces eye strain, particularly in low-light environments. This mode maintains the same high level of functionality and usability as the standard version, while providing a sleek, modern aesthetic.

NOMAD provides a seamless, inspiring travel planning experience by combining detailed destination information with easy access to accommodation booking platforms. By grounding our design decisions in detailed persona research, we were able to create a user-centric app that addresses the distinct needs of our diverse user base. This approach not only improved the user experience but also enhanced the app's overall appeal and usability, making NOMAD a valuable tool for all types of travelers.
